Johannesburg – Even though the travel bans necessitated by the worldwide outbreak of the coronavirus have rained on many a parade, they have not dampened the spirits of two hikers who should have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro last month, on Mandela Day.
Media personalities Gerry Elsdon and Pearl Shongwe have made a vow to do even better next year, the next date of the Trek4Mandela hike done in aid of charity.
DURBAN – On Nelson Mandela International Day, the Nelson Mandela Foundation together with its partners the Imbumba Foundation and the Kolisi Foundation launched the #Each1Feed1 Digital Voucher in Potchefstroom, North West Province.
The launch was in partnership with Boxer Superstores and Pick ‘n Pay.
Every year since 2011, on Mandela Day the Imbumba Foundation in partnership with Nelson Mandela Foundation has been taking to Tanzania to trek Africa’s highest peak Mount Kilimanjaro – all this in support of the Trek4Mandela initiative.
The initiative raises funds to provide menstrual hygiene support to young disadvantaged girls under the Caring4girls initiative by Imbumba foundation.

With the rise of the corona outbreak in South Africa, health officials and government have asked fellow countryman to help against the spreed of the virus.
The Imbumba Foundation, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Old Mutual and the Rand Water Foundation have launched the #Soap4Hope campaign, with the aim of collecting anti-bacterial hand-wash soap and other alternatives to help curb and prevent unnecessary widespread infection within underprivileged South African communities.
